Christmas fudge winner!

Congratulations to Russell Maurer who won the jar of fudge at the KRRA stand at the Fab Ideas Christmas Fair yesterday.  He guessed correctly there were 92 pieces.  KRRA was at the Fair in the primary school to raise awareness of what KRRA does and give an update on the legal action against CCT and developers Redcliffe.

KRRA’s legal action to halt major housing developments in the village continues.

We are awaiting responses from the City and developers Redcliffe to our High Court review proceedings.

Our main argument is that in approving this 107 house development the City acted irrationally, ignoring the requirement of the Southern District Plan for sufficient regional infrastructure to be in place before such approvals.

And, following the Mayoral Committee’s approvals for a further 399 homes, against the City’s own SPELUM recommendations, we are considering further linking legal actions. SPELUM recommended refusal because of heavy traffic flows on Ou Kaapse Weg and lack of reassurances on other infrastructure capacity.

Developers now have pending permission for over 500 new houses, increasing Kommetjie by around 50%.

Funds are urgently needed to continue this action. If you’d like to donate, the account details are: KRRA, Standard Bank, Fish Hoek 036009, Acc Nr 374221065.

We are ensuring that donations towards this legal challenge are being accounted separately.
