Walking & Hiking

We encourage you to explore our village by making use of the footpaths, but if you are walking your dog(s), please take responsibility for your dog’s droppings.

The Kom Cat Walk

The catwalk along the Kom and on to the lighthouse is partly tarred and partly boardwalk. You can watch the surfers at Kom Inner and Kom Outer from the benches along the way, or just enjoy the sunset.

The Bokramspruit Footpath

The footpath next to Wireless Road and Bokramspruit is easy to negotiate and as we get rid of more alien vegetation the indigenous flora is re-appearing.

The Block House Hike

You could walk up to the blockhouse on top of Slangkop by following the footpath from behind the Catholic chapel at the end of Rubbi Road. You will be able to enjoy a view of Chapman’s Bay all the way to Hout Bay on a clear day.

Hoerikwagga Trail

The 97 km Hoerikwaggo Trail which runs all the way from Cape Point to Cape Town, goes through Kommetjie. It takes five days to complete the entire trial, but you could opt to do part of it. It has well-equipped overnight tent camps along the way. Hikers can book one-night, two-night, three-night or the full four night packages available as sections of the overall trail. You are not charged for the hiking of the route on the trail, but are charged for the accommodation facilities thus, the sleeping over at the tented camps. The trail is for free and openly accessible to anybody who wants to hike it.

It is advised however that a trail guide be booked. MORE INFO ON HIKES HERE
