Are you a Kommetjie resident who wants to play an important role in baboon management?

If so, we’re inviting you to express your interest in serving as Kommetjie's volunteer representative on the Cape Peninsula Baboon Advisory Group (CPBAG).

The role offers an opportunity to strengthen communication between the Kommetjie community, the KRRA and the City of Cape Town as work continues to improve baboon management across the Cape Peninsula.

The CPBAG was established to provide community input and civic oversight to the Joint Task Team (JTT), which brings together the City of Cape Town, CapeNature and SANParks to implement the Peninsula Baboon Management Strategy.

Representatives from communities that encounter baboons play an important role in ensuring local perspectives are heard when decisions are made.

What you would be doing

  • Act as a point of contact between the community and the relevant authorities

  • Help to communicate local concerns, share information and contribute constructively to discussions about baboon management

If you care about conservation, community engagement and finding practical ways for people and baboons to coexist, we encourage you to put your name forward.

To register your interest, complete the online application form by Friday 28 August. It should take you 5-10 minutes. KRRA will then review applications and communicate next steps.

By volunteering your time, you can help Kommetjie's voice be represented in discussions about one of our most important collective challenges.
